Our Primary 5/6/7 children have been given a great opportunity to take part in Taiko Drumming. All the details of the programme are attached on the letter which has been sent out by Fiona, the organiser. This is a cross-community project with ourselves and Gaelscoil Eadain Mhoir.
Most of the practice will take place during school time with transport provided by the organisers but there are some commitments for parents to make. These are:
- Attending a Dress Rehearsals (this will take place on a Saturday or Sunday in May)
- Attending the Festival Performance (Saturday 24th May)
We have shown the children in school what Taiko drumming involves (on YouTube) and many of them are very keen. Before expressing your interest, please understand that the drumming is loud and may not be suitable for your child if they have any sensory issues. If you would like to see what it is all about, a quick YouTube search of Taiko Drumming will give you an idea of what’s involved.
The children will be getting a demonstration of the drumming on Wednesday 5th February in school and after that, we will send out a form where you can register your interest.
We only have 10 spaces available for the programme, so please ensure you can make the commitments required before expressing your interest.
