Today in Primary 5/6/7, fire fighters Ryan and Jake from Northland Fire Station visited to give us a very informative talk about fire safety in our homes.
They spoke to us about the causes of fires, hoax calls, testing our fire alarms every Tuesday and fire escape plans. They also talked about having a fire safety 'bedtime routine' which involves closing all doors, unplugging all electrics (except for the fridge and freezer) and making sure all candles are put out. Many of us admitted that we often leave devices charging overnight, which we now know not to do!
They also set us a challenge to learn off our address, including our postcode, which is important incase we ever have to make an emergency call as the postcode allows the emergency services to get a more precise location.
