Our theme in Nursery this month has been transport and the children have been learning about different vehicles which travel in the land, sea and air. There have been opportunities to create boats, rockets, cars and buses using different shapes. The children enjoyed using different vehicles and wheels to paint tracks which were then cut up to make the road in our wall display. In the Role Play area this month the children loved taking turns to be the bus driver and singing 'The Wheels on the Bus'. They then became mechanics using tools to fix the trucks before cleaning them. The children also had the opportunity to match and sort items for recycling, using the bin lorries to gather items for the correct bins. Play with vehicles continued outside where children used lorries to transport logs and also played with the diggers in the gravel. In the middle of all our fun with the vehicles we took time to explore the snow, making footprints, throwing it in the air and best of all, catching it on our tongues! What a busy month!
