Notan is a form of Japanese art which translates as "light-dark".
It focuses on the use of dark and light to create artwork using negative space - just like Yin and Yang.
Mrs Warke put together a small project for us to complete today.
First we made our designs by drawing them on black card. Once we had created our patterns we cut them out. After cutting them out we reflected the pieces on our page, thinking carefully about where they should be placed using our knowledge of symmetry. After everything was put in the correct place, we stuck all the pieces down with PVA glue.
Everyone came up with fantastic designs and patterns. Just like our class, each one is unique!
