Morning Routine (Primary 1-7)
From Monday (11th September 2023) parents can drop off their children at the assembly hall door (at the top of the steps) between 8:40am-8:50am.
There will be a teacher there to supervise for these 10 minutes before school starts each day. This means that parents will no longer have to wait at the bus turning circle each morning and staff will be collecting their class from the assembly hall rather than the bus turning circle.
This meeting point was initially set because of COVID rules but as we are no longer having to follow these, I thought it would be easier if there was an indoor space for pupils to stand, especially as we move towards the autumn months where rain is more likely.
Parents should drop off their children at the door and should not stay in the assembly hall with them during this time. Children will be asked to stay in their class lines where they can have a chat with their friends each morning. This is not a time for the children to run around and play, it is designed so that parents know their children are safe and supervised and do not have to wait outside with them.
The details will be explained to the children today in assembly. If there are children who refuse to follow the rules set out for this, their parents will be asked to bring them 8:50am to the assembly hall and they will go straight to their class line. I don’t imagine this will be the case as our children are always very well-behaved, but this will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
Children who get the bus will now walk from the bus straight to the assembly hall and also wait in their lines until collected by their class teacher at 8:50am.
I understand that parents sometimes wish to speak to their class teacher in the morning. Please remember that this is a very busy time for teachers and it can often be difficult for them as their are trying to organise their class. If you simply need to pass on a message please contact them via Seesaw. If you need a more in-depth discussion, arrange a meeting with them so that it can take place at a time when they can give you their full attention.
I hope that this will make morning routines easier for everyone involved. If you have any questions or issues, as always, please contact me and we can discuss these.
Thank you,
Mr Torney
